14 Feb 2011 – Bermagui

We had a lovely 45nm sail today from Eden. Had the spinnaker up for about 4 hours until the wind shifted to the beam so we then furled out the genoa. About two hours from Bermagui the wind died, so we motored the rest of the way. Green hills and rocky outcrops were visible along the coast; Merimbula, Tathra and the little places in between.

Bermagui is a lovely port complimented with the newly built (2009) Fish Co-op with restaurants and showers. The entrance to the harbour is shallow and I imagine a heavy swell entering this port would be tricky. As it was, we had 5 knots of wind so it was quite direct.

We’ve rafted next to a fishing boat, and rafted against us is Blue Lady from Geelong. I think we’ll stay a couple of days to soak up the locality.
