We had a great sail yesterday from Bateman’s Bay to Jervis Bay. With little wind we departed at 0600 and by 0830 hoisted the spinny and enjoyed a pleasurable six hour spinnaker run all the way to St George Head, just south of Jervis Bay entrance, with winds up to 15 knots from the southeast. We arrived at Point Perpendicular at the northern side of Jervis Bay at around 1700.
Anchoring in seagrass is illegal in NSW so we were careful to drop the anchor in a sand patch in some 5m of water. After we set the anchor I freely jumped into the water for a swim to cool down and wash away the day’s sweat. I grabbed the goggles and flippers and swam along the anchor line to be certain the anchor was properly set in the sand, which it was.
